Values:
We believe that God exists and is pleased with
all who draw near by faith. We worship the one holy God who is
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit eternally. God has created all things
visible and invisible, has brought salvation and new life to
humanity through Jesus Christ, and continues to sustain the church
and all things until the end of the age.
We believe in
Jesus Christ as the one who died and rose from the dead in order
that people could live in union with God. We believe that the life
and teachings of Jesus guide our daily living. We believe that the
church should keep Christ's life and ministry alive in the world,
just as though Christ was still living on earth: that's why we refer
to the church as the "body of Christ". We believe that the church is
made of people whose sins have been forgiven and who choose to
follow Christ's teachings. As Christians, we try to relate to each
other and the world in the same loving, forgiving way that Jesus
practiced.
The church tries to live
in obedience to the Word of God--the Bible. We believe that God's
spirit (Holy Spirit) helps the community of believers understand
that Word. The life and teachings of Jesus as recorded in the Bible
help in interpreting the meaning of the "Old Testament" part of the
Bible: "For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is
laid, which is Jesus Christ" (I Corinthians 3:11) The Holy Spirit
uses the written Word to give new life to the church and to help
people grow in faith.
